Fox Paws ShawlFox Paws Shawl

Join us in May to create the stunning Fox Paws Shawl or Scarf.

Fox paws is a rectangular wrap with a distinctive stripe motif that looks like little interlocking fox feet. Using only increases and decreases, stripes are shaped into waves that create the striking pattern. It is worked in 5 colors. There is no stranded or intarsia techniques so there are no loops on the wrong side and the wrap is very stretchy and drapey.

We have a wonderful yarn chosen for this project. It is from Mirasol and is called Sulka Legato. It is made from Extra Fine Merino Wool, Baby Alpaca and Mulberry Silk. This yarn supports the shepherds and their families that tend the herds in Peru. You can read more about their story and the school that they support at www.mirasolpe.com. The beautiful faces of those children melt my heart!

Stash Busters

Stash Busters 2019

Do you have a stash of fabric at home that may last you until you are gone?  Shelves overflowing?  Running out of space for those treasured pieces?  Do you keep buying fabric for your collection without a goal for its use?  Do you still accumulate fabric faster than you use it?   If any of these describes you, then Stash Busters! is for you!

Here is how it will work:  you pay the $40 annual fee and sign up.  The project starts in January 2019.   Come in to the shop in to pick up your pattern.  Patterns will focus on using fat quarters or jelly rolls, so you can use up lots of smaller amounts, if you choose.  You will have until the end of March to finish the quilt.  In April, you will pick up a 2nd pattern.  You will have until the end of June to finish it.  In July, pick up a 3rd pattern, (finish by end of Sept.)  and in October, pick up the last one for the year (finish by mid-December).

Each time you finish a quilt by the deadline (March, June, Sept. & December), you will be eligible for a drawing.  We will have a party at the end of the year and encourage everyone to come to show off their quilts.  Drawings will take place then.  There will be a grand prize drawing at that party.  To be eligible for grand prize, you must complete all 4 quilts.  You do not need to complete all four to stay in the group or get the patterns, however.

Your registration fee covers the patterns.  There are no requirements to purchase fabrics (not prohibited, though).  Our goal is for you to use fabrics from your stash.

We will have a short get-together on the first Wednesday in April, the first Wed. in July, the first Wed. in October at 5:30 PM just to show our progress to the group and get ideas.

Sign-up begins November 1.  Hope to see your name on the list!

When we say "finished", we mean the quilt top.  Quilts do not need to be quilted by the deadline.
